The Legislative Assembly's financial panel is deliberating on subsidies for Meyer Werft, a prominent shipbuilder.
The authorities, specifically the Federal Government and Lower Saxony, are planning to acquire approximately 80.7% of Meyer Werft for roughly 400 million euros. This figure includes financial assurances valued at approximately two billion euros. On a Wednesday in Hanover, the House of Representatives' Budget Committee will also deliberate on aid for Meyer Werft. As per the German Ministry of Economics, this state assistance won't necessitate EU approval.
The decision to provide aid for Meyer Werft was not considered as requiring approval from other EU member states. Despite the significant investment from the Federal Government and Lower Saxony, other potential investors might still be interested in acquiring a stake in Meyer Werft.
