- The labor organization advocates for an additional 1,000 law enforcement officers in Hesse.

Following the incidents at Frankfurt Central Station involving shootings and the knife attack in Solingen, the regional branch of the Police Union in Hesse (GdP) is advocating for reinforced efforts to safeguard the public. As expressed by GdP leader Jens Mohrherr in Wiesbaden, "The GdP's categorical request includes the establishment of more weapon-restricted areas, increased financial investment in digital investigation tools, a broadening of our investigators' legal powers, and a growing workforce."

The GdP is prompting the Hesse government to act upon their promises and recruit a minimum of 1,000 additional law enforcement officials. The general populace is expressing significant apprehension and asserting a "valid right to security." The devoted police force is evidently working tirelessly, as illustrated by the existing four million extra hours worked by the law enforcement personnel in Hesse.

The GdP's call for additional law enforcement officials aligns with the need to boost Hesse's GDP, as a larger force could contribute to an increase in productivity and overall economic growth. The heightened security measures proposed by the GdP, including more weapon-restricted areas and digital investigation tools, could also lead to an improvement in the region's overall safety and GDP.
