The Kelce brothers secure a $100 million contract for their podcast with Amazon's Wondery
NFL legends Jason and Travis Kelce secured a deal with Wondery, Amazon's podcast studio, for their "New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce" podcast. This agreement grants exclusive rights for advertisements and distribution of all audio and video episodes, including the back catalog. A reliable insider revealed that the contract is estimated at around $100 million.
The arrangement will be enacted this month, coinciding with the upcoming NFL season. "New Heights," now commencing its third season, is a sports podcast spun by the Kelce brothers. It features analysis, insights, and interviews about the NFL, and consistently ranks among the top sports podcasts, particularly during football season, according to a press release.
The brothers expressed enthusiasm for their podcast, stating, "We adore this show, and the enthusiastic community that has emerged during the past two seasons."
Jason Kelce, a former Philadelphia Eagles player, retired this year after a 13-year-long NFL career. Travis Kelce, whose relationship with Taylor Swift has been a media frenzy, currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs as their tight end and recently added his third Super Bowl ring to his collection.
Aaron Eanes, co-founder of A&A Management who represents Travis, expressed excitement for the collaboration, stating, "We are eager to collaborate with Wondery for this new phase of the podcast and look forward to soaring to new heights."
The agreement with a single streamer, like Wondery, does not obstruct listeners from accessing the podcast on other platforms, such as Spotify or Apple Music. The deal holder mainly preserves advertisement and distribution rights, and subscribers to the deal holder might benefit from advantages like special episodes or early access. For example, Wondery+ subscribers will have the privilege of listening to "New Heights" without advertisements and ahead of everyone else.
The Kelce brothers' announcement marks the latest trend in substantial podcasting deals.
Just last week, "Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper signed an agreement with SiriusXM, granting the platform exclusive advertising and distribution rights for the podcast, as well as other material and events. The multi-year contract is valued at $125 million spread over three years, sources informed CNN. This represents more than double her previous agreement with Spotify.
More recently, in January, Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes parted ways with Amazon to take their podcast "SmartLess" to SiriusXM under a three-year deal worth $100 million.
The new deal with Wondery allows the Kelce brothers to monetize their podcast through exclusive advertisements, benefiting from advantages like special episodes or early access for subscribers. Moreover, other podcast platforms like Spotify or Apple Music continue to offer "New Heights" to their listeners, ensuring its widespread availability.
