Originating from Rahat, a primarily Arab Bedouin settlement situated in the Negev desert's southern region of Israel, Alkadi is a Bedouin. On October 7th, while employed as a security guard at Kibbutz Magen, he was captured by Hamas, a Palestinian Islamic extremist group based in the Gaza Strip.
