The healthcare sector in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern witnessed an expansion of 3.4% last year, reaching over 170,000 employees. This places the state as a leading contributor to Germany's healthcare industry with a gross value added worth €6.8 billion. These statistics were shared by Minister President Manuela Schwesig during the opening of the 19th National Healthcare Industry Conference in Rostock, where Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (both from the SPD) was also present.
Schwesig emphasized the enormous economic potential of the healthcare industry for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Germany, as a whole. The conference has attracted almost 600 attendees from business, research, and politics. Lithuania has been chosen as the partner country for this year's conference.
