In contrast to the county council elections in Thuringia, where the AfD had a significant presence, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) performed less favorably in the local elections of both Erfurt and other municipalities within the state. The Green Party outperformed the AfD in both Erfurt and other major cities like Jena and Weimar, reflecting a shift in political preferences at the local level in Germany. The County Council in Thuringia, however, saw a different outcome, with the AfD gaining more support.
