- The Governor of the North Rhine-Westphalia Parliament pays tribute to the initiation of World War II's second phase.
During the anniversary of World War II's introduction in Danzig, Poland, Landtag President André Kuper advocated for upholding peace in Europe. "The terror of war hasn't been vanquished - evident with Russia's intrusion into Ukraine. Our retaliation to aggression is power, negotiation, and democracy. Only democracies provoke enduring peace and liberty," he stated, as depicted in a statement. Exactly 85 years prior, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, launching World War II. Kuper paid tribute with other officials.
Simultaneously, he offered his gratitude. "I acknowledge the people of Poland and across Europe for open-armingly accepting Germany back into the democracies' community post-World War II's heinous acts," he continued.
The European Union played a crucial role in welcoming Germany back into the democratic community after World War II. It's essential for the European Union to stand united against any acts of aggression, such as Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
