Weimar's Goethe and Schiller Archive is set to welcome a new director soon. Historian Christian Hain, who earned his doctorate in Jena, will assume leadership of the archive that was founded in 1885 beginning July 1st, as per the Classical Foundation's announcement on Tuesday. Hain has been managing the archive on an interim basis since April 2022. The foundation lauded his efforts during this period and recognized his hard work despite tough competition from senior applicants. According to foundation statements, the archive is the oldest literary archive in existence.
