The administration is under scrutiny. - The gathering of Environment Ministers concludes.

Following the devastating floods in South Germany, concluding today's Environment Ministers' Conference (UMK) in Bad Dürkheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, will soon be underway. During a final press conference (13:00), the outcomes and potential resolutions from the meeting, which commenced on Wednesday, will be revealed. Flood protection, wolf management, and the discussion of a potential natural disaster liability insurance were all among the meeting's agenda items.

Moreover, a proposed project from Hamburg was debated, which would establish a new, constitutionally enshrined joint effort for climate change mitigation and adaptation. According to Katrin Eder (Greens), Rhineland-Palatinate's Environment Minister, this would require undertaking measures to prevent climate change and deal with its repercussions. These obligations would be lasting, giving more certainty than temporary funding programs. Additionally, the federal government could directly support the municipalities with financing.
