Severe Weather Alert: Be Aware of the Upcoming Tempest - The flooding situation improves in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Relaxation in flood conditions is expected in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Upper Rhine and specific sections of the Middle Rhine witnessed their highest levels on Wednesday morning, as per the flood forecasting office of the Rhineland-Palatinate Environment Ministry.
After attaining these record-breaking levels, the water levels on the Middle Rhine are predicted to decrease by Sunday. Both the Upper and Middle Rhine should witness a drop in water levels, as per the forecast. The Environment Ministry confirmed that no imminent flood threats exist for any rivers in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The high water levels have caused disruptions in transportation, particularly shipping. The Rhine ferry Ingelheim, which provides service between Ingelheim (Mainz-Bingen district) and Oestrich-Winkel (Rheingau-Taunus district), has been out of service since Tuesday and is estimated to resume operations only on Thursday. The ferry between St. Goarshausen (Rhein-Lahn district) and St. Goar (Rhein-Hunsrück district) has also stopped its operations until at least Thursday, shifting to an all-passenger ferry. The operators officially shared this news on their respective websites.
