The flood situation in Bavaria is gradually improving.
Over the past few days, heavy rainfall has hit Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, resulting in rivers overflowing. Some places witnessed what's referred to as "century floods," leading to disaster warnings in certain districts and cities. Six people lost their lives as a result.
The Bavarian government responded by pledging more than €100 million in aid to those affected. The Interior Ministry in Munich reported that approximately 6,600 individuals had to evacuate their houses due to the recent floods. Nearly 60,000 people were still involved in the flood recovery efforts.
The city of Passau, which suffered significantly from the combined forces of the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers, saw stability return on Wednesday, as per the local administration. On Thursday, regular school operations were restarted in the old town district.
Embryonic clean-up efforts were initiated. However, the water levels at these locations, as per the flood warning service, were decreasing at a sluggish pace due to the extended high water peak.
