Biblis: A Destination Uncovered - The flood situation at the former nuclear power facility has improved.

The flood risk near the old nuclear power plant in Biblis has diminished, according to the Bergstraße district, updating on Friday. The population in the area is safe. Flooding was tackled by emergency crews since the beginning of this week.

"With the help of many voluntary emergency crews, we successfully managed to handle the situation," remarked District Administrator Christian Engelhardt (CDU). Emergency response measures were implemented in Biblis, Bobstadt, Groß-Rohrheim, Hirschhorn, Neckarsteinach, and Lampertheim, where sandbags were filled, among other protective measures.

Germany's decision to phase out nuclear energy post-Fukushima disaster in 2011 resulted in the closure of the Biblis nuclear power plant. The site's dismantling process started in 2017. Only two of the initial four cooling towers are still standing.
