Quantum computers promise to tackle complicated computations quicker than conventional machines. The first business-ready quantum computer is being assembled in Hamburg and is scheduled to launch operations on Thursday (9:45 am). Semiconductor company NXP anticipates Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Mayor Peter Tschentscher (both members of the SPD), along with officials from the Federal Ministry of Economics and the German Aerospace Center, to grace the initiation ceremony in the Eimsbüttel area.

Quantum computing enables the calculation of algorithms that outstrip those achievable by modern computers. This includes applications in fields like climate and vaccine studies. Executing these tasks necessitates sophisticated low-temperature technology. A consortium of research institutes, NXP, and other companies are spearheading efforts to bridge the gap between basic research and industrial applications. To achieve this goal, the German Aerospace Center has inaugurated two centers - one in Hamburg and the other in Ulm (Baden-Württemberg).
