Friedrichskoog marine sanctuary for seals - The first error of the season relocates to the breeding zone.
The first seal pup in this breeding season at Seal Station Friedrichskoog will receive its meal at 11:00 am on Tuesday. Then, it will be relocated to an area where visitors can see it. The seal, named "Bosse," arrived at the station on May 14th and currently weighs 9.3 kg. When he first arrived, "Bosse" was only a few days old and weighed 8.3 kg.
The newborn seal still retains some of its long embryonic fur (lanugo), which it will shed completely in the weeks to come. The wounds found during the initial examination are said to have healed. These injuries might have been caused by a dog. The primary breeding and nursing time for seals at the National Park Wattenmeer has just started and is expected to end in August.
