Jeremy Somers, the head of the FDP in Thuringia, recommends his national party to abandon the traffic light coalition. "The traffic light coalition is done," he shared with the "World" newspaper. In his viewpoint, it would be more independent to showcase various ideas to the voters, "who clearly can't be united in this configuration anymore."

He can't fathom why the national FDP chose to carry on the partnership with the SPD and Greens. "Given the persistent new disagreements, people no longer have confidence in the problem-solving abilities of this administration."

Somers has been at odds with the national party since his interim position as Thuringia's Minister President with the votes of the AfD. He doesn't receive any monetary aid from Berlin for the current election campaign in Thuringia. The Thuringian FDP scored three percent in recent opinion polls, sometimes categorized under "Other". This puts it at risk of not making it into the Erfurt state parliament on September 1st.

Somers believes that the FDP should reconsider its alliance with the SPD and Greens in Germany, as the coalition is no longer gaining the trust of the voters due to persistent disagreements. In light of this, he believes that Germany's FDP could present more independent ideas to the voters to potentially gain their support.
