- The far-right AfD party proposes to exclude asylum seekers from participating in events.
The ALFA-DEM in the Brandenburg state legislature has proposed a measure for the upcoming extraordinary legislative meeting, sparked by the tragic stabbing incident in Solingen. The proposal includes, amongst other things, a ban on asylum seekers, recognized refugees, and Ukrainian war refugees from attending public events.
"Solingen could be any place today or tomorrow," stated ALFA-DEM legislator Lena Kotré in Potsdam. "We've reached a point where we can no longer manage the situation."
In addition to the Thursday session's demands, ALFA-DEM also advocates for the establishment of Brandenburg's border police. Asylum seekers who take "vacation trips to their home country" should lose their protected status and be required to "permanently return to their home country." Public buildings should also be prohibited from displaying rainbow flags.
The ALFA-DEM party holds a minority position in the Brandenburg state legislature. It's highly improbable that other parties will support this resolution.
At a press conference, the ALFA-DEM's leading candidate for the September 22 state elections, Hans-Christoph Berndt, accused the CDU, SPD, Greens, FDP, and Left of promoting a "diversity policy," which he claimed was leading to a "loss of internal security" and the emergence of "hostile parallel societies" hostile to our nation.
Three people were killed and eight others, four seriously injured, on Friday night during a city festival in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Solingen. The primary suspect, a 26-year-old Syrian, is currently in custody. The federal prosecutor's office is investigating him for suspected murder and membership in the terrorist organization IS, which claimed responsibility for the attack.
Despite the tragic crime in Solingen, the ALFA-DEM proposes stricter measures, such as prohibiting asylum seekers and refugees from attending public events. This escalation in response to the incident raises concerns about the potential impact on diversity and internal security.
