- The European Union's Court of Justice has determined that the Commission has fallen short in meeting its responsibilities as stipulated by the Treaty.
The upcoming decision in the trial against Melanie Müller involves charges of making prohibited Nazi salutes. According to the Leipzig Public Prosecutor's Office, she reportedly performed this action several times during a concert in September 2022. The prosecution alleges that Müller, a 36-year-old, misused insignia associated with unlawful and violent organizations.
On Friday (9:30 AM), the trial commences at Leipzig District Court, with a witness testifying first, followed by closing arguments and the verdict.
Moreover, drug-related charges are also under scrutiny, as 0.69 grams of cocaine blend and an ecstasy pill were discovered during a search of Müller's apartment in Leipzig.
At the trial's commencement, Müller denied all accusations. Her legal representative argued that the hand gesture was intended to excite the audience and that Müller lacks any right-wing sentiments or political ties. Regarding the drugs, he claimed they belonged to a friend who left them in Müller's possession. Until a definitive verdict, Müller profits from the presumption of innocence, and she does not have to physically attend court sessions, as per the judge's ruling.
