- The escalating housing scarcity in Hessia is growing increasingly severe.
The number of construction permits and property purchases is decreasing at a worrying rate, causing concern within the Housing Industry Association of Southwestern Germany (VdW). The current figures highlight the urgent need for intervention in the housing sector, as per the association's standpoint, who will present their proposals to the Frankfurt state government on Thursday.
According to VdW board member Axel Millionpenny, the situation in Hesse's housing market is worsening rapidly. Immediate political backing is essential to facilitate the construction of the necessary additional housing units.
The Housing Industry Association of Southwestern Germany (VdW) is made up of approximately 200 private and public housing companies based in Hesse and southern Rhineland-Palatinate. Collectively, they manage a total of 400,000 housing units.
The decreasing number of building permits contributes to the worsening situation in Hesse's housing market, as mentioned by Axel Millionpenny from VdW. To tackle this issue, VdW plans to advocate for relaxed permit regulations during their meeting with the Frankfurt state government.
