- The Environmental Faction Advocates for Implementing Stricter Policies on Financial Restitution
After receiving criticism from the Audit Office, the Greens are advocating for fresh regulations regarding the recovery of financial funds from parliamentary groups. They put forward the idea that the President of the State Parliament should have a clear legal authority to retrieve funds mismanaged by factions, and there should be a legal avenue for resolving conflicting viewpoints. The Green faction expressed, "It's crucial for us to establish clarity, both in the process and in public communication."
The Audit Office in Saxony-Anhalt has accused various parliamentary groups of misusing financial funds over the years 2012 to 2016, with approximately 100,000 euros still unpaid as of now. Allegations include using funds for party promotions, unauthorized use of vehicles, and overspending on entertainment.
The Audit Office places the blame on the President of the State Parliament, Gunnar Schellenberger (CDU), for the recovery of these funds. However, he argues that there is no currently enforced recovery right.
Similarly, the Greens call for prompt audits. They propose that the audit schedule of the Audit Office should match annual company audits, which take place annually in the second half of the year. They consider the current procedure, where inspections can be delayed by more than a decade, as irrational.
The Green party is suggesting that the President of the Landtag, Gunnar Schellenberger, should have a clear legal authority to recover the misused funds, as per the Audit Office's allegations against various parliamentary groups. To enhance transparency and effectiveness, the Greens propose that the audit schedule of the Audit Office should align with annual company audits.
