Colditz: A Fortress of Escape Attempts - The Environment Minister predicts increased likelihood of rain and flooding in the future.

Heavy rain on Saturday night caused numerous landslides, keeping the fire department occupied. Flooded basements, uprooted trees, and inundated plots of land were just some of the problems. Access to two districts was also blocked due to rain.

Günther stressed the importance of giving residents advance notice to save valuable items from the cellar. Furthermore, increasing the number of water retention areas could help absorb more water, thus reducing the chances of landslides. Hedge structures might also prevent landslides by enhancing the landscape's water absorption capacity.
