Kicking off the new academic year on September 1st, the Bavarian Business Association (vbw) highlights the promising opportunities for apprenticeships. As per the Federal Employment Agency, there's roughly 1.6 open apprenticeship spots for every applicant in Bavaria. Additionally, the succession scenario is favorable, mentions CEO Bertram Brossardt. The metal and electric sector anticipates that the succession rate will persist at a robust 97.7% up until 2025.

Bavarian enterprises provide approximately 20% of the country's total apprenticeship opportunities, notes vbw. An early and hands-on understanding of one's career path is crucial: it minimizes the dropout rate and enlightens young individuals about the sectors wherein the workforce definitely requires them. Numerous companies organize orientation days with experienced apprentices, allowing new hires to familiarize themselves with the company, its workers, and exchange thoughts.

The DGB Youth Bayern encouraged new apprentices to educate themselves about their entitlements. "Apprentices should verify their pay to ensure they're fairly reimbursed," says regional youth secretary Anna Gmeiner. Duties linked to delivery, cleaning, routine cleansing, and cover for other employees' vacations and sick leave do not fall under the responsibility of training. It's also essential to exercise the entitlement to vacations promptly.
