After the Euro Football Championship - The draw for the fan mile is next week

Parts of the artificial turf laid during the European Football Championship at the Brandenburg Gate are to be raffled off next week. Demand was very high, as a spokesperson for the event organizers, Kulturprojekte Berlin, said. They received requests for around 60,000 square meters, although the area of the artificial turf is only about 24,000 square meters.

Some pieces had already been allocated in advance - for example, to soccer pitches, kindergartens, or schoolyards in various Berlin districts. For most of the applications, the raffle will now decide as planned. These include requests from clubs and schools.

Currently, the turf is being stored and cleaned so that it can be reused later. The organizers hope to be able to present the first completed soccer pitch with artificial turf, which was laid at the fan mile on the Straße des 17. Juni during the EM, by the end of the month or early September. It is in good condition, the spokesperson said.

The following shall apply to the raffle: Each winning applicant will receive a designated portion of the artificial turf. Despite the high demand, not everyone will receive turf, as only a limited quantity is available.
