Eichstätt Diocese will not fully relinquish school management. According to the Upper Bavarian Diocese's announcement on Tuesday, the schools in Eichstätt and Ingolstadt will continue to be managed by the diocese. The diocese justified this move by stating that the Free State now has a more lenient stance toward schools with alternative sponsors.

Back in March 2023, the Diocese of Eichstätt declared its intention to transfer the management of its five church schools due to financial constraints. These schools consist of four secondary schools and a grammar school. However, recent discussions with the School Work Augsburg, which manages the schools of the Augsburg Diocese, have been fruitless. As a result, the diocese plans to retain control of the Eichstätt and Ingolstadt school centers.

There are two school centers, encompassing a total of four schools. Negotiations regarding the takeover of the fifth school, a girls' secondary school in Abenberg, are still ongoing, a diocese spokesperson confirmed.
