A murder trial against a 60-year-old man begins today at 9:00 AM at the Regional Court of Aachen. He is accused of shooting his daughter's boyfriend on the second day of Christmas 2023 in Düren. According to the indictment, the Turkish man wanted to prevent his daughter's relationship with the 33-year-old at any cost. The defendant is said to have initially chased the friend on foot and then shot him at close range with a firearm.

The crime took place on a street near the train station in Düren. According to the indictment, the 60-year-old allegedly fired several more shots at the man lying on the ground. The 33-year-old died shortly afterwards. Earlier reports stated that the victim was also a Turkish citizen.

Two weeks after the crime, the 60-year-old was taken into custody. Over the course of the ten trial days, numerous witnesses are expected to be heard. If convicted of murder, the defendant faces a life sentence.

The initial hearing for the 60-year-old's case will take place at the [The Court of First Instance]. The investigation and evidence gathered will be presented during this trial process.
