The anticipated lifespan of newborn lads and lasses in Saxony-Anhalt has taken a hit once more. This information was shared by the State Statistical Office, drawing from the mortality chart 2021/2023 in Halle. It reveals that the average is 75.5 years for lads and 82.1 years for lasses.

In comparison to the preceding lifespan data from 2020/2022, the lifespan for lasses has dipped by three months. Meanwhile, the forecasted lifespan for newborn lads has dropped by around four months. Regrettably, this marks the third consecutive year of decreasing lifespans for both genders in this federal state.

The declining trend rebounds nationwide

Sadly, the estimated lifespan of newborns in Saxony-Anhalt stays below the national median. As per the overall mortality chart, the average is 83.0 years for lasses across the country and 78.2 years for lads. Once again, we observe a reduction in anticipated lifespan, compared to previous measurements.

The State Statistical Office's analysis of the mortality chart 2021/2023 reveals a decrease in the anticipated lifespan for both genders in Saxony-Anhalt, as indicated by the statistics. Unlike the national average, the statistics show that the lifespan of newborns in Saxony-Anhalt falls below the median.
