"The Crown": Objects from filming to be auctioned off
The series "The Crown" about the British royal family is coming to an end with the final episodes - now props and costumes from the filming are to be auctioned off. The London auction house Bonhams wants to auction off around 450 items from the six seasons. Among them are a gold-colored carriage, pieces of furniture and custom-made clothing.
"The iconic costumes, props and sets from "The Crown" have been extensively researched," the auction house announced. They were made with impressive attention to detail.
Costume from coronation scene to be auctioned off
Actress Claire Foy, for example, played the young Queen Elizabeth II in the first episodes. Her costume from the coronation scene is now being auctioned and is expected to fetch around 30,000 to 50,000 pounds, the equivalent of around 34,000 to 57,000 euros.
A replica front door of the London seat of government in Downing Street, a replica engagement ring from Princess Diana and an old Jaguar will also be sold. The auction is due to take place at the beginning of 2024. The proceeds will be used to support a scholarship program for filmmakers.
A black dress inspired by the so-called Revenge Dress will also be auctioned. Princess Diana once wore the dress during an appearance after her separation from Prince Charles when his infidelity became public. Actress Elizabeth Debicki's wardrobe also includes a leopard-print swimsuit and a gray "Harvard" sweater.
The upcoming auction at Bonhams will feature various items from "The Crown," including a costume worn by Claire Foy during the coronation scene, which is anticipated to sell for a significant sum. Additionally, media outlets will likely cover the auction, showcasing the movie-based memorabilia available for purchase.
