Expert report clears hospital doctor - The Court of Justice has held that the Commission's decision to initiate proceedings against the applicant is not in itself a decision of the Court of Justice.
A clinic director at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), who was placed on leave due to allegations of improper treatment, has been cleared by an external review. "Investigations into the matter found that the medical and professional accusations made against the doctor, both internally and anonymously, and subsequently picked up by some media, do not hold up to factual scrutiny," the clinic announced. No treatment errors were found.
However, the doctor will remain on leave. The clinic leadership has initiated discussions with him "with the aim of a mutual separation, as there are differing views on the type of conceptual and structural further development of the relevant clinic," it said.
The UKE leadership had temporarily and immediately relieved the doctor of his surgical duties in June and commissioned an external ombudsman's office, specialized in the relevant field, to assess the situation, as stated in the announcement. This review is now complete. "No misconduct was found in the medical and professional area."
Despite being cleared of any misconduct in the medical and professional realm, the doctor will continue to be on leave from the Hospital (University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf). The clinic leadership is now considering a mutual separation, citing differing views on the future development of the relevant clinic.
