- The consensus after the second Test victory is satisfactory
Dino Toppmoeller was pleased after the second win in the second test match of his Frankfurt Eintracht on the America tour. "I believe we saw many things that were very good. But we also saw things that we still need to work on. That's normal at this stage of preparation," said the Eintracht coach after the 4:0 (1:0) win against Louisville City FC.
Especially double goal scorer Igor Matanovic convinced. "Igor gave us a lot in the game with the ball. As a target player, he acted very well up front," praised Toppmoeller the 21-year-old striker. The Matanovic, who returned after his loan at Karlsruhe SC, is a serious competitor for everyone who plays up front. "He has taken a really good step forward," said Toppmoeller.
Besides Matanovic (50th minute/78th), Hugo Ekitike (42nd) and Ellyes Skhiri (48th) scored the goals for the Hessians in the Lynn Family Stadium. The match against the host from the second-tier USL Championship had been delayed due to a storm. The Frankfurt team had won the first test match in the USA against the Mexican first division team FC Juarez with 2:1.
Looking forward to New York
The Hessians needed some time to get into the match. Initially, the momentum was missing, which Toppmoeller attributed to the high workload in training. "But then they got into the game and came forward really well until half-time. In the second half, we had even more energy," said the 43-year-old.
The Eintracht team now travels to the last tour stop in New York. Therefore, the successful farewell in Kentucky was all the more important. "It was a dominant win. We're happy to have achieved a positive conclusion here in Louisville with two test match wins. We leave here with a positive feeling and look forward to New York," said Toppmoeller.
Dino Toppmoeller mentioned that Matanovic, who scored two goals in the match, is a serious competitor for any forward in Hessen's team. After the match against Louisville City FC, Frankfurt Eintracht prepared to travel to New York for their last tour stop.
