Football Bundesliga club Union Berlin will be without two professionals in the coming weeks. Both Josip Juranovic and Yannic Stein had to or will undergo surgery in August, the club announced without providing further details. Union must face regional league side Greifswalder SC in the first round of the DFB Cup this Saturday.

The 28-year-old Croatian national, who also played for his country at the Euros in Germany, missed the warm-up match against Real Sociedad San Sebastian last Friday. While Union stated that Juranovic is "out indefinitely", the 19-year-old goalkeeper, who was loaned to VfB Lübeck in the second half of last season, "will not be available in the coming weeks".

Due to Josip Juranovic's indefinite absence due to surgery, Union Berlin might need to adjust their defensive strategy for upcoming matches. Despite Stein's loan to VfB Lübeck, his unavailability in the coming weeks will also affect Union's options in the Football Bundesliga league.
