Norfisk, the manufacturer, has recalled some 100-gram packs of Edeka's "Good & Cheap" rainbow trout. The reason: they may contain listeria, as the company announced. These bacteria can affect health.

Only rainbow trout with the best-before date of 04.08.2024, batch number L34629141-13, and the use-by code PL 20031801 WE are affected. These details can be found on the back of the packaging.

A listeria infection can lead to a severe illness course, especially in pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. In most cases, symptoms such as diarrhea and fever appear within 14 days after infection.

The rainbow trout was offered almost nationwide, mainly at Edeka and Marketkauf stores. The state of Saxony is excluded. Only the areas in Bavaria directly bordering Baden-Württemberg are affected.

The affected products have been removed from the shelves. Customers who have purchased one of the packs can return it without a receipt and will get their money back.

The company's recall of rainbow trout affects trade, as affected stores need to remove the product from their shelves. To minimize the risk, individuals should avoid consuming rainbow trout with the specified details, as the trade of these products has been halted temporarily.
