- The Commission has also adopted a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionising radiation.
10 Billion Euros - That's How High the Investment Need for the Next Years in Saxony is in the Eyes of the SPD. The Social Democrats want to establish a special fund, a so-called "Saxony Fund 2025", as stated by the top candidate and Minister of Social Affairs, Petra Köpping, on Thursday in Dresden. This is necessary as a long-term investment strategy to provide businesses and municipalities with planning security.
Investments in schools, hospitals, and climate-friendly economy
The money will be used to modernize and renovate schools and hospitals, and to drive forward the climate-neutral modernization of the economy. Investments in care and affordable housing are also planned.
For financing, the SPD aims, as "Plan A", to reform the debt brake. However, this would require changes to the Basic Law and the Saxon Constitution, which are not currently on the agenda. Therefore, they have a "Plan B", said Dirk Panter, chairman and financial spokesman of the SPD faction. Through this, at least five billion euros should be raised in the next five years.
Extension of Corona Loan Repayment
It is planned to stretch the repayment of Corona loans over a generation, which would provide an additional 1.5 billion euros in the next five years, according to party statements. Another 3.5 billion should be freed up by reducing contributions to the civil servants' pension fund, which should be invested sustainably.
The SPD's investment strategy also includes the establishment of a state investment company, as presented by the Minister of Economics, Martin Dulig, two weeks ago. This should drive forward the transformation of energy supply to climate neutrality through profitable investments, for example in the heating network and the power grid.
The Social Democrats aim to utilize the funds from the proposed "Saxony Fund 2025" for various investments, including modernizing and renovating schools and hospitals, promoting a climate-neutral economy, and investing in care and affordable housing.
To provide businesses and municipalities with long-term planning security, the SPD considers these investments as crucial parts of their strategic investment plan.
