As per the police accounts, the incident likely occurred in the wee hours of Friday. A worker at the office on Eichborndamm in Wittenau district reported no paint smears on the building at 4:00 AM. However, upon inspecting at noon, tell-tale signs of the vandalism were discovered, prompting a call to the authorities.
As per Green politician Klara Schedlich, this isn't the first time their headquarters has been targeted. However, the connection to the Middle East conflict is novel.
Since the Hamas-perpetrated terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, there's been a surge in paint vandalism incidents in Berlin, linked to the Gaza war. Some of these attacks have even targeted the offices of politicians. The most recent instance being the defacement of SPD MP Lars Düsterhöft's constituency office in Berlin-Oberschöneweide, which sparked public outcry.
