The BSW in Thuringia heads into state elections with ex-Left Party member Wolf.

Wolf, a highly recognized left-wing politician in Thuringia, previously affiliated with the BSW. This 48-year-old woman spent three years in the Thuringian state parliament and subsequently governed Eisenach for twelve years, but decided not to seek re-election in recent local polls.

The outlook for the BSW's entry into the Thuringian legislature appears to be positive. A study released in several Thuringian newspapers in early May found the alliance at roughly 16%, matching the Left led by Minister President Bodo Ramelow.

The AfD, headed by state chair Björn Höcke, led in the poll with a 30% share, while the CDU, led by state chair Mario Voigt, was close behind at 20%. The SPD and the Greens, the present partners of the Left in the state coalition, recorded 7% and 5%, respectively. The FDP trailed with just 2%.

The BSW has already established regional organizations in Saxony, Brandenburg, and the Saarland. It has also chosen to compete in the Saxony and Brandenburg state elections on September 1st and 22nd, respectively.

In the Thuringian municipal elections, the BSW saw a remarkable feat. It garnered double-digit results in some county council contests.

This party was founded at the national level in early January, with Wagenknecht and the former Left parliamentary group leader in the Bundesrat, Amira Mohamed Ali, among the initiators.
