- The Authority has opted to provide financial assistance to the initiative focusing on environmental matters.
After significant flooding and sudden floods in the northern portion of Kassel district at the beginning of August, affected people can now submit applications for government financial aid. Private individuals, along with agricultural, horticultural, and commercial enterprises, have a month to submit their applications to the district council, as announced by the Kassel government presidency.
The purpose of this initiative is to lessen the extraordinary suffering resulting from weather-related damage, and it considers damages exceeding 5,000 Euros. "We will not abandon the citizens and municipalities in distress and will continue to aid the affected region as much as possible," stated Hessian Interior Minister Roman Poseck in a press release.
Email submissions will not be accepted.
Applications are available on the websites of the district and the Kassel government presidency. Applicants must complete and submit the forms in their original, signed paper version - under no circumstances via email, the government presidency emphasized. Affected individuals can contact a district service hotline for any queries.
Excessive rainfall particularly impacted the neighborhoods of Reinhardshagen, Trendelburg, and Wesertal, as well as the cities of Hofgeismar and Bad Karlshafen over the first weekend of August. The district estimated damages in the high millions: basements and ground floors were flooded, roads were undermined, and cars and liquid gas tanks were swept away. Over 60 residential buildings were damaged in the most affected municipality of Trendelburg-Gottsbüren, and three firefighters suffered minor injuries during operations.
The affected individuals can submit their applications for government financial aid to the appropriate authority in the affected district's council. The flooded districts include Reinhardshagen, Trendelburg, and Wesertal, all located within the broader Kassel district.
