Law enforcement, customs, and public safety officials stormed Berlin-Friedrichshain to crack down on clandestine gaming. On a Tuesday night, they confiscated at least one slot machine from a watering hole on Frankfurter Allee, as reported by a dpa correspondent. Additional sites were scrutinized. An agent from the federal government's addiction commissioner's office, who took part, explained that the operation was triggered by allegations of gambling law infringements.
The officers handed the confiscated slot machine over to the local Police department for further investigation. Following the raid, the Police issued warnings to several establishments in the area about strict adherence to gambling laws.
