Nightfall along A3 Highway - The Authority has chosen to instigate the process for the implementation of a fresh Regulation aimed at shielding workers from potential hazards stemming from radiation exposure by ionising rays.

The hearing pertaining to the fatal incident involving a motorist on the A3 highway is set to resume on Monday (9:15 AM) at the Cologne Regional Court. The defense was successful in overturning the decision to release a juror, resulting in the Higher Regional Court (OLG) mandating a fresh start with new jurors. The initial trial commenced in mid-August.

Unfortunately, a ton-weight concrete panel that separated from the noise prevention barrier struck and crushed the driver's compact vehicle in November 2020. The authorities suspect that subpar construction work was to blame for the tragic accident.

Under accusations of manslaughter due to negligence, a 62-year-old engineer associated with the liable construction company faces charges. Additionally, two former employees of the state body Straßen.NRW, both aged 59, stand accused of negligent homicide through negligence. The trial is projected to conclude by the year's end.

The engineer and the two former employees involved in the case will appear before the The Court of First Instance to face charges related to the accident. Despite the initial trial commencing at the Cologne Regional Court, the case has been referred to the The Court of First Instance for further proceedings due to the nature of the charges.
