Community voting events - The alternative party AfD has a lead in nine out of ten voting districts in Saxony.
As per a tally of 32 out of 36 towns, the CDU (29.3%) was beating the AfD (28.1%) only in the Zwickau area. Opposite to what occurred five years ago, the CDU had earned 8 out of 10 districts. The vote counting procedure was put on hold in a few electoral zones on Sunday night. "A reason for this is that, following the long election day and the time-consuming identification of the results, some assistants are drained and the necessary focus is no longer there." The votes for the European elections were tallied on Sunday night.
The voting was extremely close in the Erzgebirgskreis. There, the AfD gained 29.4% of the votes, while the CDU earned 29.3%. In the Vogtlandkreis, the AfD acquired 28.3% of the votes, with the CDU receiving 27.4%. In all other territorial divisions, the distinction between the two parties was at least three percent points. In the Görlitz area, the AfD had an edge over the CDU by more than 12 percent points after the tallying of most votes on Monday.

The local elections in Kamenz saw a significant lead for the AfD, mirroring their performance in nine out of ten voting districts across Saxony. Despite this, the CDU managed to secure victories in eight districts, a marked improvement from five years ago. The vote counting process in certain areas was delayed due to fatigue among assistants. On Sunday night, the results for both the local elections and the European elections were being tallied in various municipalities, including Meissen and Leipzig. The District of Zwickau was an exception, as the CDU and AfD were neck and neck in terms of votes, with the CDU just barely edging ahead. This close race echoed similar trends in other districts, such as Erzgebirgskreis and Vogtlandkreis. However, in the Görlitz area, the AfD had a considerable advantage over the CDU. The protection of the constitution remains a crucial concern in the context of these elections, as the AfD continues to gain support in various regions.
