The Alternative for Germany (AfD) has emerged as the frontrunner in the Pforzheim municipal elections, securing 22.0% of the votes. The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) came in second place with 20.8%, while the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and Free Democratic Party (FDP) received 8.7% and 7.3% of the votes respectively.

A total of 90,000 citizens were eligible to vote in the city, and the voter turnout was 46%, up slightly from 44.9% in the previous elections.

In contrast, in the 2019 municipal elections, the CDU remained the strongest force in Pforzheim's city council despite experiencing significant losses. The SPD earned 13.7% of the votes, and the AfD received 14.9%.

In the national municipal elections held this week, over 8.6 million people across Germany were eligible to vote for district, county, and local council positions. Voter alliances received the highest number of votes in the district councils in the last elections.
