- The administrative body observes advancements in digitalisation.

In the realm of technological advancement, Saxony-Anhalt, as per State Secretary for Digital Affairs Bernd Schloemer, has made strides in various sectors. There have been noticeable improvements for residents, businesses, and the administration itself, Schloemer explained. "Saxony-Anhalt is becoming more tech-savvy, and that's a positive development."

As part of the "Online Schools" initiative, 96 percent of educational institutions are now linked to the fiber optic network, Schloemer stated. "We lead the pack in terms of speed and efficiency. Other regions have faced significant challenges in this area," he further added.

A digital strategy is also set to enhance the administration, making it easier, more transparent, and more digital, according to Schloemer. Currently, 193 administrative services can be completed online, but not consistently across all cities. However, new services are continually being introduced. The aim is to facilitate digital transactions for services like address changes, ID cards, or driver's licenses as soon as possible.

However, the Left party in the state parliament believes that Saxony-Anhalt is lagging behind in technological advancement. "Residents of the Altmark or the Jerichower Land are well aware that both mobile networks and high-speed internet connections are scarce in many regions," said faction leader Eva von Angern in a dpa interview. In particular, smaller municipalities require active support from the state government in technological advancement. "The shortage of skilled labor poses significant challenges for public administration, and digital processes need to be consistently driven forward to allow existing resources to be utilized for other tasks."

The Left party in the state parliament advocates for increased support from the state government for technological advancement in smaller municipalities, particularly in areas like the Altmark and Jerichower Land, where mobile networks and high-speed internet connections are scarce. The Commission, with its digital strategy, aims to facilitate online services for tasks such as address changes, ID cards, or driver's licenses, with the ultimate goal of making digital transactions more accessible for all Saxony-Anhalt residents.
