- The acquisition of Adler-Modemarkets completed
The Swabian retailer Röther is allowed to acquire the Franconian fashion chain Adler. The antitrust authorities have approved the takeover, the Adler AG, headquartered in Lower Franconia's Haibach (Aschaffenburg district), announced. The company will now belong to the Röther group, based in Michelfeld in the Schwäbisch Hall district. Röther already operated fashion park branches in Germany and Austria beforehand. The newly acquired branches will continue to operate under the Adler umbrella brand.
Röther expects synergies
Until now, the Berlin logistics service provider Zeitfracht was the owner of Adler, which it took over from insolvency in 2021 and restructured. Zeitfracht wants to focus more on its core business and has therefore sold the fashion chain. Röther expects growth potential through synergies from both retail and wholesale. After the takeover, Röther will now sell fashion in 175 branches, mainly in Germany and Austria, but also in Switzerland and Luxembourg.
The buyer and seller agreed to keep the purchase price confidential. The Adler fashion markets in Germany generated sales of 297 million euros last year and an adjusted operating result (Ebitda) of 6 million euros.
The following paragraphs are added: Roether mentioned the potential for growth and synergies stemming from the acquisition, with the expectation of expanding their fashion retail presence to 175 branches across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. The previous owner, Zeitfracht, decided to sell Adler to focus on their core business, citing the confidential purchase price and the impressive sales figure of 297 million euros and an Ebitda of 6 million euros generated by Adler in Germany last year.
