Vehicle Movement - The A7 and Hamburg Elbe Tunnel will be completely shut down during the weekend.
Starting Friday night at 10pm, the A7 and Elbtunnel in Hamburg will be completely closed for 55 hours until Monday morning at 5am. This closure is to allow for the demolition of a bridge in Bahrenfeld. As a result, the lanes leading to Hannover from Stellingen to Heimfeld and those going to Flensburg between Heimfeld and Volkspark will be unavailable. Instead, drivers will need to take a regional detour via the B205, A21, and A1, starting from the Maschener Kreuz south of Hamburg.
Inside Hamburg, the Elbrücken will provide alternate routes for cars. Meanwhile, a new cycle and pedestrian bridge at Baurstraße in Bahrenfeld is set to be demolished to make way for a wider motorway. Temporary arrangements will be in place until early November, with cyclists and pedestrians advised to use Osdorfer Weg instead.
During this closure, there will be changes to traffic management at the site south of the Elbtunnel. The computer in the tunnel will be serviced, and the workers conducting the work will be carrying out technical and fire drills. An official from the Autobahn GmbH offered this information.
