Art showcase A display of artistic works by various artists is set to take place. - The 25th NordArt event kicks off this weekend in Büdelsdorf.
This weekend, the NordArt contemporary art exhibition will be welcoming visitors at the Carlshütte iron foundry in Büdelstedt, Germany. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the event will showcase creations from 200 artists worldwide. The event will continue until the 6th of October, making it one of the largest annual contemporary art exhibitions in Europe. This year, the exhibition is highlighting the prize-winning artists from past years.
Since 2010, 57 prizes have been awarded to artists from around the globe. Out of approximately 3,000 applicants annually, 200 works are selected by the organizers. According to Chief Curator Wolfgang Gramm, "Art is like a seismograph, picking up the tremors of society. It reveals society's truth and the longings of humankind." These artists create visions of the future based on past experiences. They earnestly delve into past events, analyze current social developments, and construct utopias to combat hopelessness.
The exhibition encompasses a substantial area of around 22,000 square meters. Not only the halls, but also the historical iron foundry itself, a significant example of industrial architecture, is worth a visit. Additionally, the eight-hectare sculpture park is a fantastic sight to behold. With its array of large-scale installations and beautiful surroundings—older trees, varied views of meadows, ponds, bushes, and hedges—the park captivates every visitor. The park, formed by people, is as fascinating as its artistic installations.
