"That's the difference": Leipzig at a loss after setback

RB Leipzig's professional players were left feeling deflated after another heavy setback. "We're saddened and angry, everyone at themselves," said goalkeeper Janis Blaswich after the 2-0 defeat at bottom-of-the-table FSV Mainz 05. Just a few days after their cup exit as defending champions, the Saxons are also in danger of losing touch with top teams Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern in the Bundesliga. "I can't describe it. It doesn't matter what I say. It's bitter for us. It's not a great week for us," said Xaver Schlager. During the week, they had lost in the cup at VfL Wolfsburg.

On Saturday, the Austrian midfielder appeared to be in a bad mood and at a loss. When asked what makes it so difficult against the weaker teams in the league, Schlager replied: "You can see that. You just have to win these nasty games, we can't do that at the moment. That's the difference." The previous season's cup winners had also dropped points against VfL Bochum. They are already eight points behind Leverkusen and six points adrift of champions Bayern. "It doesn't feel good right now," said coach Marco Rose.

RB Leipzig's disappointing run continued in the Bundesliga, suffering a 2-0 defeat against struggling FSV Mainz 05. This result further distances Leipzig from top teams Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern, as they failed to capitalize on their opportunities against a lower-ranked team, a situation that Xaver Schlager acknowledged, stating, "You just have to win these nasty games, we can't do that at the moment. That's the difference."
