The neglected Moselle Valley Bridge in Winningen shut down for truck lorries on a Sunday. This was in order to conduct a load test on a 218 meters long steel structure on a major German freeway, as revealed by the Autobahn GmbH. 24 hefty trucks, each weighing 4 tons, were lined up in three rows to examine the transformation of this bridge wholesomely weighing 960 tons. According to the Autobahn GmbH, freight trucks give the most significant effect on the deformation of the bridge structure as it passes through.

The process of measuring this bridge on highway 61 started at 7:30 am and continued till 5:30 pm. The test outcomes will eventually be used to mend the damaged bridge, reaching a height of 136 meters, which was planned to commence functioning this very year.

Because of the structural damage observed, the freeway bridge's speed restriction is already in place. Trucks must maintain a distance of minimum 50 meters while they rush through. The prohibition on large and heavy units has been in place for a while. Endlessly travelling lorries are the reason these fissures appeared on the bridge's welded connections, traced to fatigue.
