Tesla will introduce humanoid robots around 2025

Tesla CEO Musk has big plans: Humanoid robots are set to be used in Tesla's factories soon. These human-like machines could take over simple manufacturing tasks.

Starting next year, humanoid robots will be used in Tesla's factories. Initially, they will be built in small quantities for internal use, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk's tweet on X. Musk had previously announced that the "Optimus" type robot would be introduced by the end of 2024. In large quantities, these robots will be produced for other companies starting in 2026.

In April, Musk stated that Tesla's humanoid "Optimus" robot could perform simple lab tasks. They were expected to be brought into production halls for limited use by the end of the year. And by the end of 2025, they were also to be offered for sale to other companies. Musk confirmed then that he believed "Optimus" would be more valuable to Tesla in the long run.

Humanoid robots are modeled after the human form and have been in development for several years, for example, at Japanese automaker Honda and the robotics pioneer Boston Dynamics, which is part of Hyundai Motor. Several companies are investing in the new robot generation to alleviate potential labor shortages and take on tasks such as logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing.

In May, the electric carmaker announced that two of its "Optimus" humanoid robots had already autonomously completed tasks in the factory. However, it remained unclear which specific tasks they had performed. The news was just one item in a long list of Tesla milestones presented to shareholders to convince them to approve another multi-billion dollar compensation package from Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The integration of humanoid robots in Tesla's factories, as announced by Musk, could significantly impact the company's economy by automating simple manufacturing tasks. Additionally, Tesla Motors plans to produce these robots in large quantities starting from 2026, not just for internal use, but also for other companies.
