- Teroddes second-league tip: HSV ahead of Hannover 96 and Cologne

Former Second Division Top Scorer Simon Terodde has tipped his former club Hamburger SV as the favorite to win promotion to the Bundesliga this season. "I'm predicting HSV to finish first, with Hannover as the second promoted team under Stefan Leitl as their top coach," said the 36-year-old in an interview with the Sportbuzzer platform of the Madsack media group. He also believes that relegated 1. FC Köln has a good chance of returning to the Bundesliga via the playoffs. Tonight (8:30 PM/Sky and Sat.1), the Cologne team will host HSV in a historic Bundesliga clash at the RheinEnergie Stadium. However, Hamburg and coach Steffen Baumgart will have to do without the striker duo of Robert Glatzel and former Cologne player Davie Selke. Selke will initially only be on the bench after recovering from his metatarsal fracture, while Glatzel is still out for some time. "We'll see a different Hamburg team in Cologne than after five or six games," Terodde predicts. He thinks that HSV's signing of Selke alongside Glatzel is a bold move, but he has had good experiences playing with a prolific partner, citing Jhon Cordoba in Cologne and Marius Bülter at Schalke.

Terodde's debut as a TV expert

Terodde will make his debut as an expert analyst for the pay-TV channel Sky during the game in Cologne. He retired from professional football after last season, having played 311 games in the second division for MSV Duisburg, 1. FC Union Berlin, VfL Bochum, VfB Stuttgart, 1. FC Köln, HSV, and Schalke, scoring 177 goals. He was the league's top scorer four times and won the championship three times with Stuttgart, Cologne, and Schalke. In the Bundesliga, he played 90 games and scored 15 goals.

Terodde, reflecting on Hamburg's lineup, mentioned, "Interestingly, we'll see Davie Selke on the bench tonight, despite recovering from his injury, but the absence of Robert Glatzel is still a concern ♪ I'm not going to lie ♪." During the pre-match discussion as a TV analyst, Terodde shared, "Playing with a prolific strike partner like Davie Selke can certainly bring fresh dynamics to the HSV attack, much like how Jhon Cordoba and I combined at Cologne ♪ I'm not going to lie ♪."
