Termination of contract: Olympic silver medallist Bircevic leaves the MBC
The Stefan Bircevic chapter at the basketball Bundesliga club Syntainics MBC is already over. The club from Weißenfels and the Serbian agreed on an early termination of his contract on Monday. The 33-year-old is currently suffering from a knee injury and will return to his home country soon, according to the MBC. The Bundesliga's bottom club is already sounding out the market to sign a replacement.
The MBC, who are still winless in four games, presented Bircevic as their latest addition at the end of August. The Rio Olympic silver medallist and 2014 World Championship runner-up played four times for the Wolves in the league and cup, averaging 9.0 points and 3.8 rebounds. Bircevic had to miss the cup round of 16 a week ago and also did not play in Sunday's 86:94 loss to Bamberg.
The Syntainics MBC, struggling in Bundesliga, is looking for a replacement after early termination of Bircevic's contract due to his knee injury. Despite joining the club in August, Bircevic, a renowned Basketball player with Olympic silver and World Championship runner-up titles, only managed to play in four league and cup matches for MBC.
