Under brilliant sunshine, fans of the so-called Black Scene gathered once again at the Gothic Festival M'era Luna. According to the organizers, FKP Scorpio, all tickets were sold out in advance, with an expected attendance of around 25,000.

Dressed in elaborate, often dark costumes and sporting gloomy makeup, many of the attending fans celebrated enthusiastically at the Hildesheim-Drispenstedt airport to the sounds of Medieval Rock, Alternative, Gothic, and Electro music.

Headliners are ASP and VNV Nation

Almost 40 bands and musicians, including headliners ASP and VNV Nation, Front 242, Epica, Saltatio Mortis, will perform on several stages over the two-day festival this weekend. The German rock band ASP is on a jubilee tour, while the electronic band Front 242 is on a farewell tour.

The extensive supporting program includes readings, panel discussions, writing, dance, and makeup workshops, as well as a medieval market and a fashion show. The festival runs until Sunday evening.

According to the organizers, M'era Luna has been taking place since the year 2000 and, alongside the Wave-Gothic-Meeting in Leipzig, is considered one of the largest German festivals of the scene.

Visitors from Lower Saxony made up a significant portion of the 25,000 attendees, eagerly joining the festivities at Hildesheim-Drispenstedt airport. During the M'era Luna festival, numerous bands from Lower Saxony, such as Saltatio Mortis, also took the stages to entertain the audience.
