Crises or urgent situations - Ten thousand liters of heating oil enter Günzburg's sewage treatment facility.
Nearly 90,000 liters of Heizöl (heating oil) made their way into the public sewer system in Gunzburg, but fortunately, authorities detected it in time before it reached the water-cleansing biological treatment plant. If this had occurred, the bacteria that clean the water would have been wiped out, as per the city's announcement on Tuesday. On Sunday, emergency crews removed over 25,000 liters of the contaminated water-oil mix.
It is believed that the perpetrators deliberately allowed the heating oil to flow into the public sewer system. The identities of the culprits remain unknown. City officials have released a statement pointing out that such actions are forbidden.
