In Brandenburg, mere handfuls of applications for the permission to establish a cooperative for growing marijuana have been submitted thus far. Thus far, "ten applications for permits to set up communal marijuana cultivation" have been received by the corresponding state office responsible for consumer protection, as confirmed by a representative of the Brandenburg Ministry of Consumer Protection in response to an inquiry. Such applications could be lodged beginning July 1st.

At present, no applications have been either approved or denied, the representative declared. Nevertheless, the regulatory body is obligated to make a decision on an application within three months following receipt of all necessary information and evidence. Consequently, the first decisions are tentatively scheduled for October at the earliest. Due to the prevalent demand for consultations, such services are also being offered by the state office responsible for consumer protection, the ministry representative pointed out.

Primarily, much remains in the exploratory phase. Within the Ministry of Health, a penalty regime for the marijuana regulations is currently being formulated. "The formation process is not yet complete," the ministry representative explained. However, they are examining which penalty catalogs have already been issued by other federal states and what insights can be obtained from them.

Since April 1st of the current year, the possession of specific quantitates of marijuana, private cultivation, and public consumption of the drug by individuals aged 18 and above have been legalized nationwide, provided certain conditions are met. No more than 25 grams may be carried in public or more than 50 grams stored at home. Three plants are authorized in the living area. Non-compliance can result in hefty fines.

The planned decisions regarding marijuana cultivation permits are tentatively scheduled for October, as mentioned by the representative from the Brandenburg Ministry of Consumer Protection. The formation of a penalty regime for marijuana regulations is ongoing within the Ministry of Health, as stated by their representative.
